36 SIDELINES JANUARY 2014
FOR HORSE PEOPLE • ABOUT HORSE PEOPLE
Teen talent
Daniela Stransky
has begun the process of
fixing the damage done a few years ago when a horse came
down on her jaw while competing in the junior jumpers at the
Winter Equestrian Festival. The 17-year-old
Step by Step
rider was sidelined from the saddle so she could have a bone
transplant. When she finished the surgery, she emerged
literally grinning from ear to ear. The senior’s smile became
even bigger when her mom
Liliane Stransky
presented her
with a “get well gift,” a 10-year-old chestnut mare named
Winnie
, just off the boat from Belgium!
Great news out of
Lake Placid
! For all those exhibitors who
love starting summer at their magnificent horse shows,
Dick
Feldman
(pictured here with his wife
Diana
) and his team have
announced that they are expanding the shows to three weeks!
“For years we have been hearing our exhibitors tell us how
much they love being in Lake Placid and how they wish they
could stay longer,” Dick said. “Adding a third week provides
more opportunity for them to compete in a world-class horse
show and, perhaps more importantly, more time to enjoy the
unrivaled vacation setting they all love so much. From this
point on, Lake Placid is now going to be the best three weeks
of a horseman’s summer!”
