Julio Arellano is one of America’s top polo players, with a
prestigious list of titles to his name including four U.S. Open
Championships. Mentored by Hall of Famer Memo Gracida,
the Argentinian born player moved to Wellington when he
was a child and developed a love for polo. With a degree in
international business, Julio splits his time between playing
in Wellington and living in Aiken, South Carolina, where he
balances life as a polo player, husband to wife Meghan and
father of three. Sidelines caught up with Julio, to learn more
about the fun side of the talented and popular polo player.

There’s no better bonding time and it’s
the only way I stay off a horse.

Wow, they love you unconditionally
even when I lose a game. Haha, so
far! I love to see how they remind
me of Meghan or me when we were
their age. And don’t forget how they
can say something when they are
not supposed to!! Embarrassing.

Who are your heroes…
Gonzalo Pieres Sr. for building the Ellerstina
empire and producing many Argentine 10 goal
players including his sons.  Also Steve Irwin
-- he was The Man. Plus he brought so much
attention to animals. It all started with him.

Will Ferrell - he is hilarious. My son loves him.
