Letter from the Editor's

Happy New Year, everyone! As always I’m looking forward to the excitement of a new season. In this issue, you will find some great stories about amazing horsemen. Zazou Hoffman is the girl of the hour, having worked and ridden her way to the Maclay finals. Keep an eye on her, she’s definitely a rising star. Check out the first installment of Who to Watch This Winter as we spotlight some of the new and familiar faces in the horse show world.
For dressage enthusiasts, this issue is packed with great stories. Grand Prix horse Roger Rabbit was purchased with a $2 raffle ticket (in my dreams!) and eventer Nicole Shinton found dressage to be her true calling. Lauren Giannini introduces us to Mary Jordan, who overcame MS and competes with both able-bodied and disabled riders.
Foxhunters will enjoy meeting Robert Douglas, huntsman for South Creek, and we hope they’ll be tempted to visit Aiken for Whiskey Road Foxhounds’ Hunt Week in early February.

And now a word from our Contributing Editor

Remember the days when you would wait anxiously for the arrival of a magazine like this? When it was your sole source for updates on the various people, events, and issues that make up our world? Me, I barely remember those days. I’m a child of a time defined by 24-hour news stations, online media and social networking.
A few months back, I was the only person on staff who could tell our publisher what that crazy Facebook thing was all about. My reward? I’ve unofficially been crowned Sidelines’ go-to social media guru. Hmm, maybe it also has something to do with being the youngest person on staff. . .
Now I’m at the helm of Sidelines’ foray into the social media world. We tweet, we Facebook, we even blog. Join us:
