Oh dear. As every polo player knows, Tareq and Michaele Salahi, of Oasis Winery 'fame' are getting all the notoriety they can handle after crashing the White House State Dinner in honor of visiting Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The couple was spotted rubbing elbows with the likes of Vice President Joe Biden and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel at the cocktail hour before dinner, but the Secret Service says they were not invited. A Secret Service checkpoint "did not follow proper procedures" to determine if the two were on the guest list, said Edwin M. Donovan, a Secret Service special agent, in a statement. The rumor is they pulled this stunt in hopes of Michaele snagging a possible role in the forthcoming "The Real Housewives of Washington".

Dena Miller says she's excited that the city of Denton's "Discover Denton" put Prestonwood Polo Club on one of their four annual Ranch tours! Prestonwood volunteers will serve a barbecue lunch in the pavilion and have an exhibition match for them before they head off to visit two other ranches.

El Sur Polo Club and Academy in Wellington will be running the popular Friday night polo series on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month starting in January. They plan on running 18 to 30-goal exhibition games again on Friday nights and the second annual jackpot grooms' race in April where the 26 goal teams' grooms will be pitted against each other. Sounds like good fun.

Our friends at the USPA are still working hard to develop safeguards for polo ponies following the tragedy during the US Open last April. Evidence of such: they've announced a pilot program for equine drug and medication testing, which will begin this month. We're in favor of anything to help keep the ponies safe and healthy!

It looks like ERG (Scott Woods) and San Saba (Tommy Lee Jones) will be playing at Eldorado in California this winter. Julian Mannix and the Hawks (from Calgary Polo Club) are heading to Florida this winter instead of the desert.
