I’m sorry you and Tucker are still having some problems, but I LOVE that you know that high sugar, low fiber diets can make horses “hot.” Its a common misconception that the % of protein in the diet contributes to extra energy and that lower protein diets (which tend to be higher in sugar/starch) will make a horse quiet. Protein is an inefficient source of energy but sugars and starches will not only make horses hot but can lead to GI and metabolic problems! Low sugar/starch and high fiber is the way to go!
