Rescue of the Week
Beauty is a gorgeous 6 year old Redbone Coonhound mix. She was dumped at Palm Beach Animal Care and Control in March 2011. She was highly pregnant and heartworm positive – not a good prognosis for a shelter dog. A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue saved Beauty from euthanasia and placed her into foster care where she gave birth to eight beautiful babies. She was a wonderful mommy and when her maternal duties were done and her babies were adopted, she underwent Heartworm Treatment. Beauty is a totally lovable dog…she is very people friendly, gets along well with dogs her size or larger. Beauty does have a strong prey drive and should not be placed in a home with small animals (dogs, cats, rodents, etc.) as she is likely to go after them. Not knowing her background before she came to us, we can only suspect that she was used for hunting and she is simply doing what she was bred and trained to do. She is not of particularly high energy and would likely be content with a couple of walks a day and a comfy couch to sleep on.
If you are interested in adopting Beauty, complete an adoption application at www.asecondchancerescue.org. The adoption fee is $150 which includes spayed/neutered, up to date vaccinations (Rabies and Distemper/Parvo), micro chipped, and housetrained as well as a complementary wellness vet visit with our veterinarian to all adopters. We do allow out of state adoptions, but we do not ship our animals cargo. We can arrange ground transportation or in cabin air travel, at adopter’s expense.
Adoption events are held from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every Saturday at the PETCO in Wellington and the PetSmart in Royal Palm Beach. On Sundays, we are at the PETCO in Boynton Beach from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
