The Middleburg Humane Foundation (Marshall, VA) is in a contest – see Smitty poster on MHF homepage. MHF is a private, non-profit farm shelter whose staff and amazing corps of volunteers really walk the walk when it comes to making animal welfare their priority. MHF needs your help in the form of votes to win all sorts of prizes and goodies, which include being featured in the upcoming move SMITTY.
Once you vist the MHF home page, look for the red banner with SMITTY and click to land on the Smitty website’s page about Middleburg Humane Foundation. Scroll down, looking for the pawprint next to the number of votes. Position your cursor on the pawprint and click to vote. The number will immediately increase by one – and REMEMBER – only one vote per person! We feel obligated to explain the voting process in great detail because it took us close to 20 minutes to figure out exactly how to get our vote counted! Sheesh – Hollyweird or high tech – but that’s okay. Don’t do as I do and all that jazz – just click that pawprint to be counted and get everyone you know to vote – purrrrrtty please!
By sharing this post with your friends, family and co-workers, by sending it to all your email pals, by encouraging everyone to make that one vote count – by voting for MHF, you will help the Middleburg Humane Foundation to continue their specialized work in the rescue and rehabilitation of abused, neglected and at risk animals, small and large.
“We at MHF believe that all animals have a right to safe and sanitary living conditions, protection from abuse and neglect, and to live their lives in an environment free of pain and fear. We are reaching our goal of a humane and responsible community through outreach programs of assistance, education, and where necessary, intervention.”
Please support MHF with your vote. If you’re looking for a new companion animal, please check out their list of available animals. All contributions and donations – 100% tax deductible – are greatly appreciated by everyone at Middleburg Humane Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
Right now, MHF is in second place in the Smitty movie contest. Please please please recognize their incredible efforts by voting for them. The contest ends on October 1, 2010 at 5 pm PDT.
On a personal note: MHF is very special, because these people really do have the emphasis on animal welfare. Rescues are screened carefully before dogs are placed in foster care, which means that when someone decides to adopt one of MHF’s critters, they know from A to Z about the dog, cat, horse, pony, burro, donkey, pigeons, rabbit, puppy – whatever the species – and you can rest assured that said adoptee is child-safe or needs to be in adult-only environment. Plus, anyone wishing to adopt is screened carefully to make sure that the adopted creature gets re-homed into the best possible circumstances.
A word about the surplus of unwanted pit bulls which are often cross-breds, sporting very mixed bloodlines, including but not limited to various terrier breeds, beagle, lab, etc. These dogs get a lot of bad press but they don’t always pose serious threat to other small animals and humans of any age. Pit bulls, like any canine, must be trained to attack. Right now, there are several pit bull crosses at MHF wh0 have been fostered with experienced volunteers. Part of the foster process requires detailed observations about each fostered animal’s social habits. If any animal exhibits aggressive behaviors – toward other dogs, cats, children etc – that information goes on record at MHF whose staff and volunteers leap through flaming hoops to make sure that the prospective adopters are a really good match with the specific adoptee.
From everyone at MHF: very gr ateful purrs, licks, whinnies and hugs!
Remember to vote for MHF – deadline: 1st October 5 pm PDT, 8 pm EDT.
